SSFD GRADUATE STUDENT TRAVEL POLICIES

The School of Social and Family Dynamics (SSFD) is fortunate to have funding available to help students with travel to professional meetings. Funding is dependent on your active participation in the meetings (e.g., author, presenter, board members, etc.).  In general, SSFD funding can be used only for coach airfare (see exception below). Greater funding will be given to students who are first-authors or who have an identified role in the meeting. In addition, students who receive SSFD funding are expected to apply for travel funds from other sources (e.g., the graduate college, the organization supporting the conference, the grant that supports you, etc.). NOTE: It is critical that you turn in your travel receipts immediately after you return from a trip.

Complete this form and turn in to either the SOC or FHD Graduate Coordinator.

FUNDING GUIDELINES:

• First-authors and Other Active Participants: Maximum of $300 for round-trip coach airfare.
• Other authors: Maximum of $250 for round-trip coach airfare.
• Maximum of 2 trips per student per year
• First year students can obtain a maximum of $250 for 1 trip during their first year without being on the conference program
• If matching funds are obtained that can only be used for airfare, students can use SSFD funding for hotel and registration (but not meals or incidentals).
